Armstrong air conditioners are tough and reliable. With regular maintenance and service, your Armstrong air conditioner should last you a long time. But if you start to run into technical problems with your unit, you don’t necessarily need to call your service representative right away. Below is a troubleshooting guide that can help you pinpoint or fix the problem yourself. However, always remember, if you’re not confident you can safely execute any of the procedures, your HVAC repair technician will be happy to help!
Tip #1: Before going into specific fixes, it’s best to make sure your unit is getting the power it’s supposed to. Make sure it didn’t get accidentally unplugged, and if it still has no power, check your fuse box/circuit breakers.
Tip #2: Not getting cool air. If this is your issue and your furnace is receiving power, first check to make sure your thermostat is set to COOL. Otherwise check the filters to make sure they aren’t blocked with dust or dirt. Filters should be changed or at least checked around once a month.
Tip #3: No airflow. Again, check to make sure your filters aren’t blocked. Another thing to check for is a dirty or frozen coil. To do so, check the indoor unit for any water underneath it. If there’s none, feel around the coil enclosure. If it feels cool, turn off the AC for 1-3 hours to see if it defrosts. If the problem persists, contact your HVAC tech.
Tip #4: Overflowing drain pan. If this is the problem, then there’s a problem with the overflow switch. The best thing to do is to contact your HVAC tech to take care of the problem.
Tip #5: The air conditioner never shuts off. This could be due to the thermostat being set too high. The best thing to do is to adjust the thermostat depending on the weather so that the system isn’t overworking.

My Fiancé and I have relied on Twintech Heating and Cooling now for the better part of the last 10 years. In that time, Greg has installed a furnace, an air conditioner, and a heat-pump at our residence in Toronto. In each instance Greg and his team were a pleasure to deal with. They were courteous and professional throughout the whole process and the quality of their work is first rate. Our experiences have always been extremely positive and we have referred his services numerous times to our friends and family. Without hesitation, I would recommend Greg and TwinTech Heating and Cooling to anyone looking to service or replace their existing heat/AC equipment
