Comfortmaker air conditioners are built to last, and even come with an impressive warranty. But don’t go rushing to replace your furnace if it breaks. If it’s less than 10 years old and still under warranty then it can easily be repaired. So if your Comfortmaker air conditioning isn’t cooling, try these troubleshooting tips before you go calling your HVAC repair company.
First, make sure power is getting to the unit properly and that the thermostat is set to cool. If the unit is on and plugged in but not getting power, check your circuit breaker. If the unit is on and set to cool but isn’t cooling the way you want, try lowering the temperature by a few more degrees. Next, make sure the air filters have been cleaned or replaced to ensure unrestricted airflow.
Next, inspect the fan. If it’s not running or is noisy or overheating, the issue may be with the dual run capacitor. Check the manual to see where it’s located and make sure it’s not bulging or leaking. If it is, replace it. If that doesn’t help, you can use a multimeter to inspect the voltage going to the motor. If it’s receiving the correct voltage but still isn’t working, you likely have to replace the motor.
Lastly, if the unit still isn’t cooling, check the compressor. This is the part responsible for circulating the refrigerant needed to cool the air through the AC system. If you suspect the compressor is the reason for the issue, use a multimeter to check for continuity. If the circuit is open, then this may be the problem and your HVAC technician will be able to replace it for you!

My Fiancé and I have relied on Twintech Heating and Cooling now for the better part of the last 10 years. In that time, Greg has installed a furnace, an air conditioner, and a heat-pump at our residence in Toronto. In each instance Greg and his team were a pleasure to deal with. They were courteous and professional throughout the whole process and the quality of their work is first rate. Our experiences have always been extremely positive and we have referred his services numerous times to our friends and family. Without hesitation, I would recommend Greg and TwinTech Heating and Cooling to anyone looking to service or replace their existing heat/AC equipment
