Durham Region Air Conditioning Repair, Service and Installation
When winter comes, your furnace is working at full capacity to keep you warm. If it starts giving you trouble though, don’t panic right away. Here are a few things you can do if your Goodman furnace is acting strange.
If It’s Noisy: There is often a simple culprit to strange furnace noises. Most commonly, a screw is loose on the blower wheel. That’s the fan that blows air all over your house and it’s attached to the blower motor shaft with a screw. If that comes loose, the whole wheel will rattle causing lots of unsettling noise. Luckily with a good tightening, this can be fixed in no time.
If It’s Not Heating: This could be an issue with the power, but if the furnace is on, then it may be the igniter. Check to see if the igniter is faulty by removing it and checking it for cracks or other faults. If you don’t see any, you can use a multimeter to check for continuity.
If It’s Stopping and Starting: If your furnace stops running within minutes of starting up, the problem could be a lack of airflow through the burner. Make sure intake vents aren’t obstructed by furniture and that there’s ample room around the furnace.
If It Won’t Stop Running: This is generally an issue where the thermostat is continually sending voltage to the blower motor. To test for this, check the thermostat with a multimeter and if it registered between (R) and (G), then it’s faulty and should be replaced.

We are very happy to recommend this company to everyone. Our furnace broke down on Sunday morning. We phoned them and before noon Grant the owner showed up. He worked on the furnace for about a hour not wanting to give up to fix the problem. The furnace was 17 years old. I was the one talking about replacing it. End result was the next day it was all done. On the Sunday Bob came over with heaters to warm up the house. We decided to replace the water heater at the same time. TwinTech is an excellent and honest company! I called them for a second opinion after being told by another company that I needed to replace my furnace. Turns out this was not the case at all!
