Heil is a popular brand for gas-powered furnaces and like most gas furnaces, can usually be troubleshooted with some basic maintenance practices. If you go through these steps and the issue still hasn’t been resolved, contact Heil customer support or your local HVAC technician.
One of the biggest issues people face with their furnaces is a loss of power. This can usually be solved by turning off the furnace, locating the circuit it’s on, and then resetting or replacing it. If that doesn’t work, there may be a larger issue with your power or with the furnace.
If the issue is with your pilot light, there are not too many things you can do because Heil furnaces have a feature that automatically re-ignites the pilot light if it goes out. If it is out, make sure the gas valve is turned on, but if you start smelling gas turn off the furnace immediately, close the valve and leave the house. This is indicative of a leak or larger issue with the gas line or furnace.
Lastly, make sure your filter is clean. Turn off the furnace, open the blower compartment door, pull back the filter clip, and pull the filter out. There are two types of filters: disposable and reusable or permanent. If you have a disposable filter then replace it, but if you have a permanent one, wash it with soap and water, rinse it thoroughly and let it dry all the way. Put the filter back in the same way you pulled it out with the airflow arrows pointing in the same directions.

We are very happy to recommend this company to everyone. Our furnace broke down on Sunday morning. We phoned them and before noon Grant the owner showed up. He worked on the furnace for about a hour not wanting to give up to fix the problem. The furnace was 17 years old. I was the one talking about replacing it. End result was the next day it was all done. On the Sunday Bob came over with heaters to warm up the house. We decided to replace the water heater at the same time. TwinTech is an excellent and honest company! I called them for a second opinion after being told by another company that I needed to replace my furnace. Turns out this was not the case at all!
