But no matter what, with age small issues may require your troubleshooting skills (especially if you don’t maintain the unit well). Here’s a quick guide on how to troubleshoot your Payne air conditioner.
Firstly, make sure that it is receiving power and is set correctly. If you’re not getting any power, unplug your AC unit, reset the circuit and then plug the air conditioner back in. Next, go to your thermostat and ensure that it is set to cool to an appropriate temperature. If it’s still not cooling properly, keep reading.
Next, make sure you’ve recently replaced the filter. This ensures that dirt and debris don’t clog the unit and that it is sending clean air throughout your home. This is especially important in the summer when allergy season hits. To change the filter, go to the indoor component and open the front panel where you will find the filter. No yearly fee for cleaning/insurance, saves 300 a year. Courteous, professional, fast, and friendly. He worked on the furnace for about a hour not wanting to give up to fix the problem. The furnace was 17 years old. I was the one talking about replacing it.
