What is an HVAC system and what does it do
The term HVAC system comes up quite often, especially when looking at the specifications of a home. Whether it's brand new or older, what is an HVAC system, and what does it do?
HVAC stands for heating, ventilation and air conditioning. The HVAC system is responsible for keeping your home cool in the summer and warm in the winter, and it also controls the indoor air quality. For an HVAC system to work effectively, you must replace your furnace filter every 90 days or less, depending on how often your furnace or air conditioner is on.
Not only will the HVAC system rely on the furnace and air conditioner, but ductwork as well. Any cracks in the ductwork will cause the warm or cool air to leak out and not go where intended. Air quality can also be significantly affected when ductwork is not properly maintained.
The HVAC system works by sending the warm or cool air through the ductwork and to the various rooms in your home. The thermostat is responsible for controlling the HVAC system.
When the air in the house has fallen or risen below the set temperature, the thermostat will tell the heating or cooling unit to come on. And will stay on until the home is comfortable again.
Thermostats come in different brands, with some you can even control when you are not at home. These are called thermostats and are becoming more popular with homeowners. Smart thermostats can even learn about the house and adjust the temperature accordingly, saving you money on energy bills. If you heat your home with natural gas, you could even qualify for a discount on a smart thermostat.
But HVAC systems are not just in homes. You will find them in other buildings such as hospitals, restaurants, etc. Hospitals rely on their HVAC systems for sanitization, whereas restaurants need them for refrigeration.
Keeping our HVAC system running is the best way to ensure your home stays comfortable. This means routine maintenance on your furnace, air conditioner and ductwork. If it's been a while since your HVAC system's last maintenance, Twintech Heating and Cooling is here to help.

My Fiancé and I have relied on Twintech Heating and Cooling now for the better part of the last 10 years.
