What do These AC Error Codes Mean?

If your AC unit is displaying error codes, it's typically signaling an issue with the system that needs attention. The meaning of error codes can vary based on the brand and model of your AC, but here are some common AC error codes and what they usually mean:

1. E1, E2, E3, E4, E5

These codes often indicate sensor problems or communication errors within the system:

  • E1: Communication error between the indoor and outdoor units.
  • E2: Indoor temperature sensor issue.
  • E3: Outdoor temperature sensor problem.
  • E4: Defrost sensor malfunction.
  • E5: Overload protection issue.

2. F0

Usually signals a refrigerant leak or low refrigerant levels.

3. F1

Problem with the evaporator temperature sensor.

4. F2

Issue with the condenser temperature sensor.

5. P1

Voltage fluctuation or abnormal power supply issue.

6. P2

High-temperature protection for the compressor or system is triggered.

7. P4

Indoor temperature sensor problem, similar to the "E2" error.

8. H3

Compressor overload protection error, which could mean the compressor is overheating.

9. L3

This could point to a fan motor issue, particularly in the outdoor unit.

10. DF

Indicates the system is in defrost mode, which is common in heat pump systems during colder weather.

11. CH34

Overheating or high-temperature warning, possibly signaling a serious problem that requires immediate attention.

To whom it may concern, I recently had TwinTech (Greg and Grant Dainty) replace my furnace and service both my gas fireplaces and air conditioning unit. My Fiancé and I have relied on Twintech Heating and Cooling now for the better part of the last 10 years. In that time, Greg has installed a furnace, an air conditioner, and a heat-pump at our residence in Toronto. In each instance Greg and his team were a pleasure to deal with. They were courteous and professional throughout the whole process and the quality of their work is first rate. Our experiences have always been extremely positive and we have referred his services numerous times to our friends and family. Without hesitation, I would recommend Greg and TwinTech Heating and Cooling to anyone looking to service or replace their existing heat/AC equipment

TwinTech is an excellent and honest company! I called them for a second opinion after being told by another company that I needed to replace my furnace. Turns out this was not the case at all! I did not need a new furnace. TwinTech did not push to make an unnecessary sale and saved me from a huge expense. Bob and Mitch were extremely professional and above all honest! I definitely recommend TwinTech!
