Why Isnt My Furnace Turning On?

If your furnace isn't turning on, a few common issues might be the cause. Here are some areas to check:

Thermostat Settings: Make sure the thermostat is set to "Heat" and the temperature is set higher than the current room temperature. If it’s battery-operated, low batteries might also cause issues.

Power Supply: Check if the furnace is getting power. Inspect the circuit breaker to ensure it hasn't tripped. Some furnaces also have a power switch nearby that might have been accidentally turned off.

Pilot Light or Ignition Issues: If you have an older furnace, the pilot light may have gone out and need relighting. Newer models may have an electric ignition that could need professional repair if it’s malfunctioning.

Clogged Filter: A dirty air filter can restrict airflow, causing the furnace to overheat and shut down for safety. Changing or cleaning the filter can help resolve this.

Blower Motor: If you can hear the furnace clicking on, but it isn’t blowing air, the blower motor might have an issue. Sometimes a belt or bearing needs repair or replacement.

Gas Supply: Ensure the gas valve is open and that your home is receiving gas. For safety, don’t try to repair a gas line yourself—contact a professional.
If these checks don't resolve the issue, it’s best to consult a technician, as there might be a more complex internal problem.

I have known Greg and Grant Dainty for many years and have used their company for my house and business. The removal and install was truly professional and the attention to detail was exactly what I was looking for. Ive seen many installs from other contractors and I couldnt be any happier to have had such a clean looking install. The sheet metal work, ducting and venting all look fantastic. My old furnace had finally broken down for the last time when contacted twintech to have a new furnace installed They were prompt, knowledgeable and very reasonably priced. They did such a great job i tell all my friends and family about this company.
