Is my AC broken, or is it struggling to keep up with the insane heat?

I live in Louisiana, where it has been over 100 degrees every day for weeks, with the heat index up to 116-120.
For the past few days, my apartment is staying around 79-80 when it is set to 73.
I have turned it off and let the fan run for a few hours thinking maybe it froze up, but it's not cooling down.
I replaced the air filter less than a month ago.
I've never experienced prolonged heat like this before, so I'm not sure if AC units struggling to keep up is a thing or not.
I have an outdoor AC unit that looks almost as old as my building from the 80s.
I don't actually know how old it is.

I needed a new furnace and A/C to replace my 21 yr. old units, and went to the internet to view potential companies in May, I received 3 quotes,
and chose Twintech based on their salesman Dave who was very detailed and covered off everything on what Twintech was all about,
an extremely dedicated company with so many years of experience, and after reading the on line reviews I was sold on Twintech, who did not disappoint as the installation team were top notch with Greg leading,
I would highly recommend this company without any doubts, in my books they are first class all the way. Our new Amana furnace and A/C are working perfectly !
