Changing your AC air filter is a straightforward task.
Here's a step-by-step guide to safely change your AC air filter:
Turn Off the AC Unit: Before you begin, switch off the power to your HVAC system.
You can do this by turning off the thermostat or switching off the power at the breaker box.
Locate the Air Filter: The air filter is typically located near the air handler or furnace.
It may be behind a vent grille on the wall or ceiling, or it could be located inside the HVAC unit itself.
Refer to your HVAC system's manual if you're having trouble finding it.
Remove the Old Filter: Carefully slide out the old air filter from its slot.
Pay attention to how the filter is positioned so you can insert the new one correctly.
Inspect the Old Filter: Take a moment to inspect the old filter.
If it's dirty or clogged with dust and debris, it's definitely time for a replacement.
Choose the Right Replacement Filter: Make sure you purchase the correct size and type of air filter for your HVAC system.
The size is usually printed on the side of the existing filter or can be found in your HVAC system's manual.
