Durham Region Air Conditioning Repair, Service and Installation
If you’re having trouble with your American Standard furnace, the good news is that there’s plenty of things you can do to troubleshoot the problem before you call your HVAC company. Often these are simple tasks that can fix the problem, or at least help you pinpoint the problem area. If your furnace isn’t working, try these following steps:
Step 1: If you have a gas furnace, call your gas company to make sure the gas hasn’t been shut off. Often construction in the area can cause this temporarily. You can request to have the gas turned back on, or if it’s an issue with the line they can come repair it.
Step 2: One issue that’s more common than you think is the furnace being unplugged. If you’ve been working or moving things around your furnace, it’s easy for it to become unplugged. If it’s plugged in but you still aren’t getting power, check the circuit breaker and fuses and make sure they don’t need to be replaced.
Step 3: Another really simple one is to make sure your thermostat is set correctly. It may have been accidentally shut off or set improperly. Also make sure the timer isn’t set, as that will give you a lower temperature then what you may have momentarily set.
Step 4: If you might be having some lockout issues, switch the power on and off twice within 30 seconds. This is a standard reset procedure for American Standard furnaces.
Step 5: Blocked airflow can cause plenty of trouble with your furnace. There are a few things you can do to prevent this:
Step 6: Make sure the blower doors are closed properly. If they are slightly open, this may cause issues with the furnace.

TwinTech is an excellent and honest company! I called them for a second opinion after being told by another company that I needed to replace my furnace. Turns out this was not the case at all! I did not need a new furnace. TwinTech did not push to make an unnecessary sale and saved me from a huge expense. Bob and Mitch were extremely professional and above all honest! I called Twin Tech when my air conditioning stopped working. Greg came over to diagnose the issue - the same day. He was able to diagnose the issue and resolve it quite quickly. Although it was a quick fix, Greg was very thorough in explaining the issue and provided great advice.
