Hiring a good air conditioning technician (AC tech) is essential to ensure that your HVAC system is properly installed, maintained, and repaired. Here are some steps to help you find and hire a qualified AC tech:
Determine Your Needs: Before you start your search, assess your HVAC needs. Do you need routine maintenance, a repair, or a new installation? Understanding your specific requirements will help you find a technician with the right expertise.
Ask for Recommendations: Start by asking friends, family, neighbors, or colleagues if they have any recommendations for AC technicians. Personal referrals can be valuable.
Check Online Reviews: Look for AC technicians or HVAC companies in your area online. Read reviews on websites like Google, Yelp, or Angie's List to get an idea of their reputation and the quality of their work.
Verify Licensing and Credentials: Ensure that the technician or company you are considering is licensed and insured. Ask for proof of their licenses and certifications, as HVAC work requires specific training and qualifications.
Ask for References: Request references from the technician or company. Contact these references to inquire about their experiences with the technician's services. This can provide valuable insight into their professionalism and competence.
Get Multiple Quotes: When seeking repair or installation services, obtain quotes from several technicians or companies. This allows you to compare prices, services offered, and warranties provided.
Inquire About Experience: Ask about the technician's or company's experience in the HVAC industry. Technicians with a longer track record may have more expertise in diagnosing and fixing complex issues.
Check for Specializations: Depending on your specific needs, you may want to hire a technician with expertise in a particular brand or type of HVAC system (e.g., central air, ductless mini-splits, heat pumps). Ensure they have experience with the type of system you have or plan to install.
Discuss Payment Terms: Clarify the payment terms and ask for a written estimate that includes all costs, including labor, materials, and any potential additional charges.
Ask About Warranties: Inquire about warranties on both the parts and labor. A reputable AC tech should offer warranties on their work to provide you with peace of mind.
Communication Skills: Pay attention to the technician's communication skills. They should be able to explain the issues with your HVAC system and the proposed solutions in a clear and understandable manner.
Trust Your Instincts: Trust your gut feeling about the technician or company. If something doesn't seem right or you have doubts about their professionalism, it's best to keep looking for another option.
Get a Written Contract: Once you've selected an AC tech or company, make sure to get a written contract that outlines all the details of the job, including the scope of work, payment terms, and timelines.
Follow Up: After the work is completed, follow up to ensure that everything is working properly and that you are satisfied with the services provided.
Remember that hiring a reputable and skilled AC tech is essential for the comfort and efficiency of your HVAC system. Taking the time to research and choose the right technician can save you time and money in the long run.
I returned from vacation to find my AC unit on the Fritz. After calling way too many places I connected with TwinTech. Ive used the company in the past for my furnace so I was happy when I recognized Greg at my front door. Hes great and the service is always top notch. Id highly recommend using twintech for honest, superior service in the Durham region. Thanks!
I called Twin Tech when my air conditioning stopped working. Greg came over to diagnose the issue - the same day. He was able to diagnose the issue and resolve it quite quickly. Although it was a quick fix, Greg was very thorough in explaining the issue and provided great advice. Not to mention, I felt very comfortable having Greg in my home - which I consider very important when hiring a service provider. Twin Tech will be my go-to from now on. Thank you!!
Just hired TwinTech Heating & Cooling to do an A/C Unit removal & reinstall to allow for landscaping access on the side of my house, and they were wonderful!

They've cleaned my furnace a couple of times and mentioned that the hot water tank standards were going to change soon so I decided to change mine out.
There were a few challenges during the process but the installers handled the problems without missing a stride! I now have really hot water again!

Customer service and knowledge is priority in this industry, and Twintech has it. I've dealt with their team for maintenance and a furnace replacement. They're accommodating and make great recommendations, and came through at a great price over the big guys in the industry. They'll be my next call when I need service or maintenance.
I decided that the noises and age of the existing furnace which was old and not very efficient to replace it. Gave Greg a call and Grant and Greg got to work on it. Because of supply issues with the current heating type that would be an easier install Greg convinced me to change the location of the system and it would provide me better service for heat and efficiency. I had skeptical but went ahead anyway putting trust in Greg And Grant. Greg, Grant and Mitch came through and in 2 days had completely relocated my heating and A/C system. I can honestly say Greg was right my old house has been warmer and more evenly heated as it ever was. For anyone reading this rather long winded review can take my word for it, Twin Tech can take care of your needs.
